Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking a Director of Fundraising. This position reports to the Vice President of Strategic Partnership and Health Innovation (VP SPHI) and is responsible for creating and implementing a data-informed fundraising program that includes major gifts corporate and foundation giving planned giving and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with MSHs global and country leadership to define fundraising goals aligned with the organizations strategy and implement specific strategies that ensure MSH has the appropriate resources to manage effectively and deliver on its Vision and Mission of saving lives and improving the health of the worlds poorest and most vulnerable people by building strong resilient sustainable health systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the Leadership Team and Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that establishes immediate and longer-term goals.
Identify and cultivate major gift prospects as well as philanthropic organizations.
Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance identify current and emerging donor trends and adjust strategies as needed.
Create and maintain a list of potential donors including corporations foundations and individuals.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of public health and global development trends issues and structures.
Working with the Communications team produce relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.
Oversees the fundraising process maintaining records of receipts and disbursement of funds.
Manage one direct report providing guidance training and support as needed.
Ensures collaboration and coordination of the function with other departments.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in nonprofit management business administration or a related field is required.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record of success in major gifts corporate and foundation giving and special events. 15 or more years of progressively responsible experience preferred.
Experience in and passion for global public health highly preferred.
Proven track record of networking and cultivating relationships with funders as well as global regional and local partners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
Strong leadership and management skills; demonstrated success in managing diverse internal and external relationships to achieve goals.
Proven experience in collaboratively setting targets and increasing revenues thereby meeting or exceeding goals.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and manage multiple competing priorities across time zones
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues Board members and volunteers in multicultural environments.
Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
Ability to work in an office environment; ability to travel to and work in countries in which MSH operates (10%).
