UI Health Cares Finance and Accounting Services department is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting and Analytics to provide leadership and direction for enterprise-wide financial and operational reporting using tools such as Power BI and Strata Decision Support. This position is responsible for overseeing the design implementation and continuous improvement of reporting systems dashboards and analytics that support hospital and physician operations workforce planning and strategic initiatives. The manager will ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used for key reporting functions such as wRVU reporting provider compensation mission effort tracking funds flow service line KPIs and P&Ls as well as hospital statistics. In addition to supervising two analysts the manager will also contribute to hands-on development and serve as the lead liaison between finance IT and clinical operations. A strong understanding of cost accounting principles and other core financial and accounting frameworks is essential.
This position includes strategic leadership responsibilities a focus on team and system development and broad accountability for cross-functional reporting integrity and adoption.
Hybrid within Iowa:Following an onsite training periodthis position is eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work. Remote work must be performedwithin Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Position Responsibilities
Financial Oversight and Budgeting
- Oversee the development of analytical reports to support the finance accounting teams.
- Supervise the maintenance of reporting tools that forecast resource utilization productivity and financial outcomes.
- Partner with leadership to align reporting deliverables with organizational priorities.
- Ensure the Decision Support System (DSS) cost accounting components are maintained to support cost forecasting and service line reporting.
- Apply advanced understanding of cost accounting budgeting and forecasting models to inform decision-making.
Financial Reporting
- Lead the design maintenance and quality assurance of enterprise-level dashboards and reports using Power BI and other business intelligence platforms.
- Oversee reporting for wRVUs provider compensation mission effort tracking service line KPIs and P&Ls and hospital statistics ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Translate technical outputs into executive-ready presentations that support strategic decisions.
- Ensure reporting products meet stakeholder needs and promote accessibility and actionable insights.
Financial Analysis and Planning
- Ensure reporting methodologies align with institutional policies GAAP and healthcare compliance standards.
- Maintain documentation and data governance standards across all reporting systems.
- Identify risks and implement controls to improve reporting accuracy and reduce audit findings.
- Promote transparency accountability and compliance in all reporting practices.
Transaction Processing
- Manage and validate complex data integrations ensuring reliability and timeliness of information used in reporting systems.
- Act as the final reviewer for analytic and transactional data sets prior to release.
- Drive continuous improvement in data processes in partnership with IT and operational stakeholders.
- Ensure ongoing integrity of cost accounting data within the Decision Support System to inform transaction-based reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous validation and reconciliation protocols.
Leadership and Training
- Lead and mentor two Senior Analysts; conduct regular performance reviews and support career development.
- Facilitate cross-functional training sessions on financial reporting tools cost accounting concepts and data visualization.
- Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and continuous learning within the reporting team.
- Provide clear direction empower team members and model best practices in financial reporting and analytics.
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance business healthcare administration or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis accounting or healthcare reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing financial or reporting teams.
- Proficiency in Power BI SQL and data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of healthcare finance cost accounting principles and reimbursement methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
Desired
- Masters degree in business administration healthcare administration finance or a related field.
- Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding structures and their impact on financial reporting.
- Experience with Strata Decision Support Power BI EPIC or HEDI data warehouse.
- Certification in Epic Clarity SQL or related technical platforms.
