Job Description

We are looking for a talented Staff Software Backend Engineer to join the Risk and Identity team.
Value Added Services - One of the youngest vertical in Visa Value Added Services is working on making transactions effortless safe and secure. Risk and Identity Solutions - Inside VAS RaIS provides safe and secure applications for card not present authentication.
The Senior Staff Software Backend Engineer will play a lead role in tackling the most complex technical problems within or even outside Risk and Identify Services. The Engineer is expected to be a Java Kafka and Containerization Subject Matter Expert to help strategize execute and support the migration from a backend perspective. The candidate must also be an SME or have substantial experience designing and implementing solutions in GCP/AWS. The responsibilities also include gathering and clarifying requirements facilitating communication with other groups within the organization and guiding architectural decisions. It is an opportunity to learn lead and work on technologies for all Value-Added Services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technology transformation projects at enterprise level.
- Proficiency in cloud service knowledge skills is crucial since engineer filling this position is expected to Provide GCP/AWS subject matter expertise to team.
- Software security skills in Google Cloud involve expertise in various aspects of securing applications and data on the platform.
- Strategize and implement ways to rearchitect solutions in GCP/AWS.
- Designs large scale event-based application on GCP/AWS with high-availability and high performance.
- Possess strong testing skills and a comprehensive understanding of the testing process within GCP/AWS.
- Familiarity with Docker technology is imperative.
- Contribute to development of new products by building quick POCs and converting ideas into real products.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to deliver high quality products and services that meet business requirements and exceeds expectations while applying the latest available tools and technology.
- Have a passion for delivering zero defect code.
- Effectively communicate status issues and risks in a precise and timely manner.
- Work in Agile/Scrum teams and follow the guidelines.
- Create documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Collaborate with global and virtual teams on software development.
- Identify opportunities for future enhancements and refinements to products standards best practices and development methodologies
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications:
- 15 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or with an Advanced degree. Understands cost optimization high availability and scalable architecture patterns.
- 8 years of relevant experience with software design architecture and development life cycle.
- Experience designing solution architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)/Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Solid foundation in cloud computing fundamentals and understanding the different service models (IaaS PaaS SaaS) and deployment models (public private hybrid).
- Proficiency in Google Compute Engine managing and scaling virtual machines (VMs) to meet diverse workload requirements.
- Mandatory experience with n-tier web application development and experience in Java/J2EE or other frameworks.
- Solid experience in frameworks like Spring or Spring Boot Sprint MVC.
- Proficient in Web Services/API Development using SOAP or REST JSON and XML.
- Proficient in Kafka Ability to install maintain and troubleshoot Kafka. Have experience with messaging and stream processing on Kafka. Have ability to set up and configure Kafka brokers.
- Experience with containerization(Docker Kubernetes Docker Swarm etc.).
- Experience with RDBMS systems like SQL Server Oracle or DB2 or No-SQL DBs like Mongo DB.
- Exposure to UI/Web development using Angular/React JavaScript Jquery and HTML/CSS technologies is preferred.
- Proficient in GIT/Stash Maven Jenkins etc.
- Passionate about delivering zero defect code that meet or exceed the proposed defect SLA and have high sense of accountability for quality and timeliness.
- Ability to deliver on multiple projects and manage priorities based on changing directions.
- Leading a module/team or mentoring experience will be a plus.
- Excellent presentation collaboration and communication skills required.
- Experience being part of an Agile/Scrum team and following processes.
