Role Overview
The UK Social Value Act & Partnerships Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring Thermo Fisher Scientifics compliance with the UK Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 integrating economic growth sustainability and community engagement into our bidding and contracting processes. Additionally the Manager contributes to strategic nonprofit partnerships and content creation for the EMEA region. This includes crafting compelling narratives to amplify community impact encourage action and showcase our contributions to both internal and external audiences. The role will collaborate with public sector customers suppliers and world-class nonprofit partners to encourage meaningful social value and community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy: Develop and implement EMEA-specific community investment strategies aligned with UK Social Value Act requirements and company CSR priority areas of STEM education and health equity. Maintain expertise in the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and its application across the UK public sector to ensure company compliance. Stay updated on EMEA regulations or policies related to the integration of social value considerations into procurement.
- Bid Development: Work with relevant Commercial teams to incorporate social economic and environmental considerations into tender submissions that translate to successful new business while ensuring compliance with frameworks like the National TOMs.
- Engagement and Collaboration: Engage with internal teams external organizations and community partners to promote community impact and gather project input. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure detailed execution and seamless integration of community projects into contracts and service delivery.
- Communications: Leverage communication skills to amplify the impact of initiatives ensuring that new business efforts resonate with collaborators and encourage colleague engagement.
- Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting: Track progress of social initiatives and partnerships collect data and produce outcome reports. Develop critical metrics and reporting mechanisms using recognized frameworks like the National TOMs. Provide accurate reporting of EMEA community partnership impact.
- Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs on UK Social Value Act principles. Educate internal teams on standard methodologies and emerging trends in UK procurement policies to ensure effective community engagement.
- Colleague Engagement: Coordinate EMEA community impact partnerships ensuring accountability for shared results. Facilitate employee involvement in nonprofit partnerships and community events acting as EMEA Community Action Council (CAC) liaison. Promote and develop global CSR community involvement campaigns.
- Project and Event Management: Manage social impact events within EMEA focusing on STEM education and health equity ensuring budget adherence and resource allocation for program objectives.
- Travel Requirement: Some travel to various UK sites may be required.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Solid understanding of the UK Social Value Act 2012 and public sector procurement frameworks.
- Experience in CSR sustainability procurement or public sector engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely effectively managing responsibilities while being geographically distant from direct team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate policy and legal requirements into actionable business strategies through a variety of mediums including PowerPoint.
- Excellent project management and partner engagement skills with proven track record of translating strategic imperatives into tangible execution through ambiguous circumstances.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in social impact measurement (e.g. M&E National TOMs Framework ESG reporting).
- Experience delivering effective training/educational sessions to diverse audiences.
Desirable:
- Experience in a science healthcare or life sciences organization.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes frameworks and bidding strategies.
- Knowledge of carbon footprint reduction sustainable development or workforce diversity initiatives.
- Prior knowledge of Social Value Portals.
- Working experience with STEM and/or health equity-focused nonprofit partners.
