Role Summary

Develops and implements recruitment plans based on enrollment goals oversees and organizes events recruits and trains staff and student/alumni volunteers coordinates with UM professionals involved in evaluation and recruitment maintains and develops partnerships with external community-based organizations evaluates admissions applications and represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting admitting and enrolling a talented geographically diverse student body.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Serves as an admissions counselor for transfer undergraduate and graduate students; reviews transcripts for high school students.
  • Coordinates admissions counseling and recruiting.
  • Coordinates and participates visits with community colleges within an assigned region and conducts meetings with prospective students while building relationships with alumni community college counselors human resource directors of corporations and other interested parties.
  • Identifies at risk students and develops strategies for providing support to such students.
  • Visits high schools or community colleges within assigned region and conducts meetings with prospective students while building relationships with alumni school counselors and other interested parties.
  • Evaluates applicants for admissions and scholarships.
  • Reviews admissions files and ensures they are completed properly through follow-up correspondence.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities; may specialize in a specific target population such as veterans transfer students or non-traditional students.
2. Receives evaluates and responds to freshman and transfer student applications according to established policies and procedures.
3. Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events.
4. Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution.
5. Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
6. Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
7. Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
8. Identifies promotes and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach recruitment and admission.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:Bachelors Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
