Job Duties
The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive hourly opportunity to serve as an Addiction & Recovery Treatment Services Program Specialist. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agencys Behavioral Health Services Unit.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The chief objective and purpose of this position is to serve as the Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) team leader on managing ongoing day-to-day (DTD) and business as usual (BAU) activities of the ARTS benefit.
This position is responsible for comprehension of the various federal and state laws regulations and policies concerning ARTS services and using that comprehension to serve as the ARTS teams lead subject matter expert on all DTD and BAU activities.
Functions will include managing the ARTS team inbox () gathering information and coordinating responses; managing activities related to the oversight of office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) providers; managing the development and distribution of memoranda website updates and other public releases of information; managing oversight of and coordination with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) including liaising with Behavioral Health leads at the MCOs; and liaising with the provider enrollment contractor.

Minimum Qualifications
Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with substance use disorders (SUD).
Knowledge of Medicaid and healthcare service provision especially for behavioral health and substance use disorders.
Knowledge of healthcare service operations.
Experience of program planning development and implementation.
Considerable experience with Microsoft Office.
Experience interpreting and applying federal and state rules laws and regulations especially for behavioral health.
Considerable experience in meeting deadlines.
Considerable experience with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience with policy development analysis and implementation.
Experience in strategic planning and project management.
Additional Considerations
Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:
Experience with medications for opioid use disorder and harm reduction services.
Experience with Virginia General Assembly processes and procedures to include reviewing committee schedules bill status and reviewing new legislation for applicability to ARTS and behavioral health.
