Were looking for a research professional to deliver industry-leading insight and opinion as part of our supply chain analysis programme.


About the role

Our team is looking for a supply chain analyst with a passion for retail manufacturing market research and data.

Youll be inquisitive have an interest in retail (FMCG ideally) and want to be an important part of a dynamic and progressive environment engaging with customers in a rapidly changing agile retailing and manufacturing world. Youll be looking for the opportunity to develop your voice and share thoughts that help our customers grow.

This is a role in our supply chain insight team driving insights and predictions for commercial success with knowledge of global food and consumer goods manufacturing and retailing. From our unparalleled industry relationships and access youll visit our customers logistics business attend industry events and be able to build your network with retailers and manufacturers.

The role will also work alongside our UK solutions and global insight team within the wider team with the opportunity to collaborate across projects.


The responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Insight your responsibilities include:


Producing best-in-class insight

You will support & build insights from your visits research supply chain surveys and utilising our network of industry contacts. You will deliver reports on a variety of supply chain trends and developments providing actionable insight to our members through IGDs Supply Chain Analysis web-based platform.

Youll support the creation of news articles and track best practices and innovations on the latest retail manufacturing and logistics developments incorporating your research into IGD reports and presentations.


Supporting our primary research

Youll be supporting our ongoing primary research with retailers manufacturers and trade bodies through calls and market visits.

You will deliver high-quality reports for our customers to showcase our work and to raise awareness and build the reputation of our supply chain research programme.

You may also play a role in supporting customer-specific projects providing insights that exceed their expectations in terms of quality and depth of insight. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge sharing your research with customers in the form of virtual or in-person presentations and webinars.

Delivering strategic value for our customers

You will support end-to-end in the process of identifying and delivering the insights and outputs that matter to our members. You will use your curiosity and commercial acumen to ensure that as a Supply Chain team our customers needs are consistently met. You may also take ownership for a smaller pool of client engagement while supporting the Head of Supply Chain Insight with the wider population. To do all this you will be able to independently and confidently engage with a range of external stakeholders.


Generating data & forecasting

Youll support in building and maintaining supply chain dashboards with collected data through regular industry surveys. You will be using primary research and performing interviews with our customers to build forecasts and predictions and provide your own perspective to inform our subscribers decision-making and business planning routines.


Focus on personal development

As a self-motivated learner with a curious mind youll support IGDs research programme and your own personal development journey. By actively developing an internal & external network and using feedback from colleagues and customers youll be able to continually improve IGD online content and the quality of our insights and research. Your line manager will support you in your short/long-term personal development goals and help identify and provide training.


What you bring

  • Knowledge and experience of the grocery and consumer goods industry (or a keen interest)
  • Experienced in working with excel data sets and forecasting
  • The ability to plan and manage your own workload
  • Proficiency in presenting information to audiences either virtually or in person providing opinions on key topics of relevance that drive impact for the customer
  • Experience in writing online content/presentations/reports
  • PowerPoint Excel and Word skills with the ability to turn multiple sources of information into meaningful insights and reporting
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset who takes pride in maintaining high standards in your own work and meeting deadlines
  • Capable of adapting priorities under pressure with a positive approach to change
  • A curiosity for learning and sharing your knowledge with an ability to think creatively and to innovate with an ethos of continuous improvement and constantly pushing the boundaries
  • Confident to travel independently and deliver research trips that fuels our research programme
