Finance and Payroll Specialist
Reports To: VP of Finance
Location: Billings MT
Position Summary:
New Day Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Finance and Payroll Specialist to support our VP of Finance in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth financial operations. This position is responsible for managing financial transactions preparing reports handling payroll processing and overseeing accounts receivable. The successful candidate will have experience in accounting software and a solid understanding of payroll and bookkeeping principles.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately type prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
- Prepare deposits and post entries to the general ledger.
- Reconcile accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain organized filing systems and detailed financial records.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements through established policies and procedures.
- Manage payroll operations including processing tracking and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
- Provide oversight and general supervision of day-to-day accounting functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in accounting and payroll.
- Proficient in QuickBooks Microsoft Excel and data entry tools.
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and financial forecasting applications.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and aptitude for working with numbers.
- Ability to handle sensitive inquiries with professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in preparing reports and interpreting financial data.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
Mathematical and Analytical Skills:
- Ability to compute rates ratios and percentages.
- Ability to interpret graphs and analyze financial trends.
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
- Current certifications in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention CPR and First Aid required. These can be obtained through New Day Inc.
- Must be able to pass Criminal and Child Abuse Background Screenings.
- Valid Montana drivers license with an insurable driving record.
- Must comply with the Immigration Control and Reform Act including completion of an I-9 Form.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear.
- Occasionally required to use hands reach stoop kneel or lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must have appropriate vision capabilities for computer and office work.
- May involve use of safe non-injurious physical interventions (as trained under CPI protocols).
Work Environment:
- Moderate noise level in a professional non-smoking setting.
- Must be comfortable working in a collaborative yet independent atmosphere.
