Instructional Coach Job Description
100% Grant Funded Position.
Position Overview:
The Instructional Coach is a teacher leader who supports instructional excellence across the campus. This role focuses on improving classroom instruction through job-embedded professional development coaching and data-driven support. Instructional Coaches collaborate closely with teachers and campus leadership to build instructional capacity and increase student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
Professional Development
- Plan and facilitate ongoing job-embedded professional learning for teachers focused on instructional strategies content knowledge and student engagement.
- Support implementation of district and campus academic initiatives through targeted training and follow-up support.
Instructional Coaching and Mentoring
- Provide individualized and team-based coaching including modeling lessons co-teaching and facilitating reflective conversations.
- Support teachers in lesson planning classroom management instructional delivery and use of formative assessments.
Instructional Leadership
- Partner with campus administration and teacher leaders to align instruction with district goals and curriculum standards.
- Serve as a leader in PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) by facilitating data-driven conversations and promoting collaborative planning.
Data-Driven Instruction
- Assist teachers in analyzing student data to guide instructional decisions and identify areas for intervention or enrichment.
- Collaborate with staff to monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs and performance data.
Curriculum Support
- Assist with the implementation and refinement of district curriculum and instructional materials.
- Model best practices for lesson delivery and differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with teachers support staff and campus leaders to ensure consistency and coherence in instructional practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility for student learning.
Ongoing Professional Learning
- Participate in district- and campus-led professional development to stay current on educational research instructional strategies and coaching methodologies.
- Reflect on coaching practices and seek feedback to improve effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education (Masters preferred)
- Valid teaching certification
- Minimum of 35 years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Demonstrated expertise in instructional strategies data analysis and adult learning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Coaching or leadership experience preferred
