We Require
Two years of customer service experience
High School diploma or GED
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Experience with library-related automation systems and databases
Experience working or volunteering in a public library
Experience assisting customers with online account payments and account management
Bilingual skills in Spanish and English
Job Contributions
Issue verify and renew library cards and inform customers of their account status
Resolve customer concerns by phone in person or e-mail and refer escalated customer concerns to appropriate staff members or supervisors
Assist customers with the self-service payment kiosk and answer reference questions
Process library materials for shelving and routing and assist with maintenance and display of the collection
Light cleaning duties such as dusting straightening and bathroom tidying
Initiate search for materials claimed returned
Working Conditions
Library environment with a varied work schedule requiring evening and weekend availability
Ability to cover shifts at nearby County library branches
Ability to lift 20 pounds floor-to-waist lift 5 pounds waist to shoulder lift 1 pound shoulder-to-overhead carry 10 pounds a distance of 50 feet and push/pull 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
