Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated part-time Network Technician Intern to join ICT Field Operations Change Request and Fixes Team a unit within UFIT for the Fall semester. The intern will be assisting the team with OSI layer 1 and 2 connections within building networks UPS maintenance documentation updates wireless troubleshooting and routine maintenance and other tasks assigned based on ticket user requests.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Understanding OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
  • Detail oriented and systematic approaches to problems
  • Prioritizing and planning work and tasks


Some key learning outcomes for the student intern are:

  • Basic understanding of building level network support and maintenance
  • Approaches and techniques for troubleshooting network issues
  • Exposure to networking tools and operations

Expected Salary:

$13.00 to $16.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age

UF Student Assistant

This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

OPS Intern

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education experience and skills:

  • OSI layer 1 and 2 networking
  • Cisco switching background
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Willingness to learn
