JOURNEYMAN AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

Location: VSBGrounds Department
(5905 Wales Street Vancouver)
Hours of work:
7.5 hours per day
Salary: $72598.50

THE OPPORTUNITY: JOURNEYMAN AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

In this position you will:

  • Maintain and repair school district fleet vehicles including maintenance equipment while implementing and adhering to preventive maintenance programs as per NEC
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections repairs and maintenance activities on all VSB vehicles and machinery
  • Maintain and service dump trucks backhoes small pickup trucks crew cabs trailers farm tractors grass cutting equipment tractor tilling equipment spay tanks and other equipment as required


Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12 plus a minimum of five (5) years of related experience
  • Real Seal Certification in Automotive Service Technician or Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic
    (please upload a copy with your application)
  • A valid B.C. Class 2 drivers licence with air brake endorsement
  • A strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and safety regulations
  • The repair and maintenance of single cylinder air cooled engines and knowledge of alternative fuels and Automotive (Propane) Gas Fitters Ticket are assets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
