Processes Build line management understanding of safety processes
Tasks: Be an influential advisor to line management by building and fostering a deep understanding of the theoretical concepts industry standards and best practices in one or more AkzoNobel safety Core Processes (people/process safety) and/or sub-processes (for example: behavior-based safety industrial hygiene hazard study asset integrity environmental management and distribution
safety) as they are relevant to the Site. Increase knowledge and experience with high hazardous materials and control measures by training operators and other site roles in HSE perform internal
audits and incident investigations. Results: Safety process knowledge of Site management meets company expectation. Oversee regulations for air permit soil storm water waste and wastewater
(water treatment plant). Support Process Safety Management (PSM) projects.
Capability: Leverage HSE expertise to support own unit and others
Tasks: Be an effective advisor for the Site by leveraging and extending its HSE knowledge through personal participation in AkzoNobel delivery of the Safety Common Platform HSE Faculty learning
programs local regulatory trainings (NRs) HSE&S induction for employees and contractors auditing and/or incident investigation and/or through training activities within the Site as well as through
personal functional development.
Delivery: Guideline management to deliver HSE policy set the culture and manage hazards
Tasks: Guideline management to develop and ensure implementation of HSE policies plans and practices for the Site in line with the AkzoNobel HSE Policy Directives Rules & Procedures (HSE
Procedures) and in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements; together with and in support of line management set the safety culture and manage hazards. Contribute and participate on
HSE&S site inspections coordinate implementation of safety activities as Safety Day Safety Stand Down company compliance and regulatory requirements. Results : Established HSE management
system compliance with local regulations
Improvement: Act as a role model for compliance and commitment
Tasks: Spend time engaging with employees and act as a role model for ensuring compliance with and commitment to the AkzoNobel HSE Policy Directives Rules & Procedures including its risk
tolerance criteria. Management of actions from Compliance (legislation). Responsible for SAQ elements PSM Building Blocks KPIs report. Participation on BBS Program of the site. Participation on
site internal and external audits contributing with completion of actions plans from these audits.
Strategy: Contribute to the HSE strategy in own unit
Tasks: Contribute to the deployment of the HSE strategy for design deployment and delivery of the AkzoNobel HSE Policy Directives Rules & Procedures and Safety Common Platform for the entity
in order to ensure alignment of objectives and performance of the Site.
Other: Perform field HSE tasks and functions as required by the SEMST
Tasks: Maintain HSE processes at the site as needed by local safety regulations including and not limited to training life critical procedures and special permit to work industrial hygiene contractor
management emergency response compliance with local standards and requirements.

Level I: Formulates guidelines and procedures and implements standards for functional discipline

HSE agenda
Level II: Significantly contributes to one specific area of HSE agenda (2 years ahead)
Level I: Signals non-compliance to the HSE agenda (1 - 2 years ahead)

HSE processes
Level II: Has good knowledge of and signs off processes within own HSE discipline taking into account the relation with other disciplines on Site level within defined HSE framework
Level I: Has basic knowledge of and executes and checks performance of HSE processes on site level within defined HSE framework

Qualifications/education:
Safety technician education mandatory to represent company in the SESMT
Bachelors degree in HSE&S/engineering or related discipline
5 years experience
Previous experience in processes involving hazardous materials and understanding of related regulations preferred

Management/general skills:
Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through;
Positive influencing: ability to convince others gain agreement or acceptance of plans activities and ability to move others willingly towards a desired goal or course of action;
Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes policies standards;
Able to work in an inclusive way in the HSE community to make sure the business experiences one voice and the teams collective objectives are met;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills entrepreneurship result oriented negotiation problem solving project management;
Very good verbal and written English language skills;
Relevant experience in similar units disciplines locations and/or other companies;

Functional skills:
Specialized knowledge of the AkzoNobel HSE functional role and HSE management systems and programs as well as external benchmarks.
