Biddeford Highschool is seeking:8th Grade Science TeacherYou can be a teacher anywhere!Check out why we are a different Job Details:Starts Fall 2025The HighSchool serves grades 8-12Under the general supervision of the School Principal to develop 8th grade students skills and competence in one or more fields of science including general life science earth science biology physiology; develops students skills and abilities in scientific methods and problem-solving as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical Description:The HighSchool serves grades expect staff and students to embrace challenges and strive to attain excellence while exemplifying Tiger PRIDE: Perseverance Respect Integrity Dependability and Biddeford School Departments Three Pillars of Commitment to Students Job Duties:The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more fields of general science in accordance with district curriculum for 8th grade must be certified in grades 7-12. Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments challenge students and best utilize the available time for instruction. Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence including scientific research projects demonstrations experiments and laboratory Job DescriptionCertification/License:State Certification as a Science Teacher (Grades 7-12) or as required for position. (395 or 350 preferred)Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of EducationEducation:Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching Degree in related area :Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning of a wide range of science subject areas including general science earth science biology physiology chemistry physics and other related areas (e.g. mathematics).Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action and Work in the Biddeford Maine CommunityLocated along the Atlantic coastline with miles of beachesViews of the Saco River to its westLess than 20 minutes south of the Greater Portland AreaIt is less than two hours north of to a growing population of diverse residentsPicturesque downtownMaines youngest city with a median age of 29 in the historic downtownThriving economyMany recreational opportunities including fishing hiking biking public parks and kayakingEqual OpportunityThe School Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
