Bookkeeper/Financial Assistant International Education
TEMPORARY FULL-TIME POSITION (35 hours/week) 08:30-16:00 - Effective ASAP to return of incumbent (approximately February 2027)
The Bookkeeping/Financial Assistant is responsible for the efficient processing of all school financial transactions. This position will work in the International Education department at the Burnaby School District Board Office. Also performs a variety of general clerical duties as part of the IE office team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs full cycle accounts payable and receivable duties. Reconciles bank statements. Approves P card transactions and retains original receipts for audit purposes.
- Prepares financial reports tracks school budget expenditures and maintains records of all financial transactions. Maintains appropriate records for auditing purposes. Tracks block budget expenditures from Board reporting and Budget Manager Web. Codes and tracks teacher LOAs through Web Manager.
- Sets up and monitors fees for online payment counts verifies and prepares for bank deposit monies. Delivers or ensures delivery of bank deposits. Tracks all payments received at the school.
- Posts journal entries to record all receipts and expenditures and prepares reports. Checks materials for accuracy and completeness. Coordinates investment options communicates with Administrator and reviews existing at maturity.
- Liaises and supports student groups/clubs parent groups and staff as approved by the Administrator for financial procedures payments donations funding and purchasing. Confirms receipt of donors scholarship funds. Verify recipient qualifications and process payment of school scholarships.
- Performs schools financial month and year end duties.
Qualifications:
- Courses in accounting and computer software applications plus two years related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to type at a minimum speed of 50 wpm net.
- Thorough knowledge of Accounting principles and practices.
