Job Description Summary
Responsible for upholding the Sports Performance Departments mission of providing a comprehensive Sports Performance program designed to optimize student-athlete development reduce injury risk and increase team success through an evidence-based collaborative approach. Essential Functions:
Design and supervise strength and conditioning programs for each assigned sport during pre-season in-season and off-season periods.
Develop a team and individual needs analysis and administer testing programs to determine the effectiveness of the strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports.
Supervises student-athletes in the strength and conditioning facility including providing instructions on the safe use of all athletic lifting techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively with Sports Nutrition Sports Medicine and other Athletic Department units.
Coordinate and assist with developing and designing departmental Sports Science initiatives including data collection aggregation and visualization in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance.
Coordinates and assists with departmental dashboards and coordinates Smartabase workflows for Olympic Sports.
Present pertinent data and research in weekly departmental meetings.
Coordinates with sports coaches with on-campus recruiting of prospective student-athletes including facility tours and meeting directly with the prospect.
Supervise the activities and scheduling of team workouts interns and student assistants.
Designs and supervises in-season stretching and warm-up exercises as requested by sports coaches for assigned teams.
Perform other related duties as assigned with minimal supervision and independent discretion.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Exercise Science or related field with a minimum of four years of related experience OR Bachelors degree in Exercise Science or related field with a minimum of six years of related experience
Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Association (SCCC) and/or National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) certification that meets NCAA bylaw 11.1.4.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of ACC and NCAA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of anatomy physiology biomechanics and various training techniques/skills.
Knowledge of the principles of athletic strength and conditioning programming.
Ability to demonstrate/teach a wide variety of physical activities related to strength and conditioning.
Knowledge of athletic injury prevention and treatment protocols.
Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
Experience with Catapult (GPS) VALD and Elite Form (VBT) Training Systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to foster a cooperative environment with athletes sports coaches staff and administrators.
Ability to motivate student-athletes and sports coaches.
Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Word Google and other relevant software applications.
Proficiency and coursework in Power Bi Data Flows Power Bi Data modeling with DAX and DAX Language/Formulas Calculations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to work independently and within a team on a wide range of departmental projects.
Valid drivers license with a good driving record; must be insurable.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervision training work direction and problem-solving assistance are provided for professional interns and work-study students. Provides supervision for approximately 300 student-athletes when using the athletic departments Sports Performance facility.
