A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Project Archeology Coordinator position will assist a multidisciplinary team of accomplished Cultural Resources specialists on a variety of projects based in California.

The Project Archeology Coordinator will support Cultural Resources Project Managers with determining fieldwork needs coordinating with construction crews checking archaeology staff availability and preparing fieldwork assignments. The Project Archeology Coordinator will gain experience in managing and directing others on project assignments.

**IMPORTANT NOTE**

This position can be performed remotely; however the candidate must be available to work hours in the Pacific Time Zone. This would include being available to respond to staffing requests in the early morning hours (before 7 am PST) or evening hours (after 6 pm PST) and weekends as needed.

While we welcome applicants from across the U.S. the ideal candidate will be based in the Western regionpreferably in California or neighboring states such as Nevada Arizona Oregon or Washingtonto align more closely with team collaboration and time zone expectations.

As a key member of the team this role will be responsible for a full range of activities:

  • Reviewing weekly schedules and determine arch field staff needs including but not limited to:

    • Coordination with construction foreman/crews

    • Weekly coordination with subconsultants and internal field staff for availability

    • Regular check-ins with arch field staff for any updates from the field

    • Working with Project Managers on schedule needs

  • Drafting survey/monitoring assignments

  • Maintaining accurate project files

  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times

  • Maintaining knowledge of regulatory standards in environmental technical areas.

  • Interacting with customers and clients

  • Working effectively both independently and in a team setting.

  • Exercising safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations including attendance at all required safety training programs

  • Participating in the Companys continuous improvement programs and providing support to team efforts

  • Keeping up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training reviewing professional publications and attending professional workshops

  • Performing other duties as assigned

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • A Bachelors degree with a major in an environmental field such as Anthropology Biology Environmental Sciences or a closely related field requiring equivalent coursework in environmental studies.

  • Must have a working knowledge of environmental fieldwork and construction work. Experience working within the utility sector is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills as the position will require regular phone calls to construction and field staff. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel and ability to use related computer systems and software.

  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work well with others as part of a team.

  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • The position may involve local travel as needed.
