JOB BAND: D
CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term Contract Full-time / Attachment Full-time
DEPARTMENT: BBC Sounds
LOCATION: London Broadcasting House or MediaCity Salford
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 40800 - 50800 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role will be at the forefront of the digital transformation of radio turning smart speaker insights and product development into shared ideas for growth across our radio networks and wider Sounds teams.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

BBC Sounds is the BBCs digital audio platform bringing radio music and podcasts to our listeners wherever they are. The Content Discovery team sits at the heart of Sounds working closely with Editorial Marketing and Product to grow and retain our weekly audience.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Youll work closely with our radio networks to develop tactics to help grow their smart speaker weekly audience.
  • Youll lead a cross-discipline project team as they develop and execute marketing strategies to target existing and prospective listeners
  • Youll work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in Product focussing on a variety of areas such as translating developments in the Sounds smart speaker skill into ideas for growth to reviewing and improving our help pages to ensure complete audience clarity.
  • Youll use audience data to help inform the strategies and tactics and report back on performance and lessons learned.
  • Youll support the Head of Content Discovery on the rollout of other growth initiatives

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You will have experience working within the audio industry preferably with some involvement in smart speaker migration
  • You will have demonstrable experience of growing the audience for a digital product
  • You will be able to confidently lead complex digital projects made up of cross discipline teams and manage stakeholders with competing needs
  • You will be comfortable working at a strategic level but enjoy delivering on key initiatives at speed
  • You will be an excellent communicator able to explain data and complex ideas and projects in simple and compelling ways to a range of audiences

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • You are data savvy not afraid of a spreadsheet or a dashboard youll be able to take audience data and use it to inform plans for growing smart speaker listening
  • You will have experience working collaboratively with product teams on digital projects to meet audience needs
  • You will be innovative unafraid to try new things and able to learn lessons when those succeed or fail
  • You will be tenacious pushing new ideas forward in the face of old ways of working
  • You will be committed to the BBCs public service values and interested in how these apply across digital products
