Salary offers are based on the candidates equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As the Child Care Nurse Consultant you will provide consultation services to community-based childcare providers in Quality First to promote healthy and safe childcare environments for infants children families and childcare staff.
The Division of Child and Maternal Health includes Family Health Women Infants and Children Oral Health Maternal/Child Health Strategy and Child Care Nurse Consultants. We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys collaborating in a team environment to help us build a stronger healthy safe and thriving community!

We Require
One year of experience as a Registered Nurse
A Bachelors Degree in Nursing OR an Associates Degree in Nursing and a Bachelors Degree in a health-related field such as public health health education social work or behavioral health
A valid unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state
We Also Value
Nursing experience in a public health community health or pediatric setting
Bilingual skills in English/Spanish
Job Contributions
Completes a Health and Safety Assessment bi-annually with all assigned childcare centers and home providers. The Health and Safety Assessment consists of a health and safety checklist a health and safety assessment tool to synthesize all relevant health and safety data for the center and the development of a health and safety action plan.
Develops health and safety goals and action steps in collaboration with childcare providers to best support the individualized health and safety needs within the childcare program.
Collaborates with other technical assistance professionals such as the Quality First Coach to support the childcare program.
Consults with childcare providers and makes recommendations to correct health and safety deficiencies or accreditation criteria following best practice standards.
Interprets state regulations and child care standards to promote best practices.
Assists in developing and implementing health and safety policies for child care centers.
Facilitates the development of care plans for children with special health care needs.
Provides training in multiple areas of health and safety for childcare staff.
Guides child care staff in the prevention of communicable diseases through outbreak recognition control and reporting.
Documents activities and services utilizing the electronic documentation system designated by First Things First (FTF).
Uses designated Excel form to track consultation hours provided to each childcare center in accordance with the CCHC SOP.
Provides monthly service report to supervisor
Provides community health resources for children families and childcare providers (i.e. health screenings mental health resources health insurance medical homes etc.)
Working Conditions
Must keep a flexible work schedule that accommodates the needs of our childcare providers and families including occasional weekends and evenings
Requires traveling to and from job-related locations throughout Maricopa County during a scheduled workday subject to County policies regarding the use of a private vehicle used on County business
Valid Arizona drivers license is required upon hire
Must be able to participate in emergency response training and respond as directed in a public health emergency to include administration of immunizations if need arises
Must complete a Child Care Health Consultant training program within one year of hire
Must obtain a valid Class I or Class II fingerprint clearance card according to A.R.S. 41-1758.03 and complete a Criminal History Affidavit Class I and Class II including the information required by A.R.S. 36-883.02
Within one month of hire all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Required immunizations include M.M.R. (mumps measles and rubella) Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria) Varicella (chickenpox) and annual influenza. Some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and a Tuberculosis test
