JOB DETAILS

JOB BAND: E
CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time Fixed-term / Attachment to end of January 2026. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
DEPARTMENT: Nations HR Team
LOCATION: Office base can be any of the main Hubs. (Cardiff Salford Birmingham Belfast Glasgow or London). If based outside of Cardiff will require regular travel to Cardiff as required. This is a hybrid role offering a balance of office-based and remote working.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 60000 - 75000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Were looking for a HR Business Partner to join our Nations HR team with a dedicated focus on supporting BBC Cymru Wales. In this key role youll work closely with leaders to shape and deliver the People strategy while also contributing to key pan-Nations initiatives. Youll play an essential part in shaping and enabling an inclusive high-performing culture and ensuring BBC Wales continues to be a great place to work.

BBC Wales is a leading provider of news drama comedy sport current affairs and political coverage in Wales. It is also the home of the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. BBC Wales provides a wide range of content for audiences across Wales in video audio and through our online services in both English and Welsh languages.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Contribute to and where accountable define policies and processes that support the BBC and divisional strategy and objectives.
  • Use and understand BBC tools and policies engaging with divisional clients effectively to ensure their use across the organisation.
  • Coach and build the capability of senior managers to anticipate and pre-empt organisational issues.
  • Participate in projects leading and promoting as appropriate (divisional and/or pan-BBC) the BBCs reputation as a global organisation and employer of choice.
  • Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of tools and policies and understand the landscape for further improvement.
  • Be an ambassador for the function and represent the BBC HR internally and externally.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Extensive experience of operating in a business partner model working with leaders to create positive business outcomes.
  • Communicates challenges and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively. Ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Can draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in away that results in agreement or behaviour a calm and effective approach when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations individuals or groups. Is able to understand and appreciate different perspectives on an issue to adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change to change or easily acceptchanges in ones own organisation or job requirements.
  • Able to simplify complex problems processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically.
  • Able to identify causal relationships and construct frameworks for decision making and problem-solving. Transforms proposals/ideas into practical reality.
  • Understand the value drivers of the BBC and is commercially aware.
