CINIC Chemicals Europe a leader in high-performance organic pigments and the market leader in DPP Red pigments is seeking a seasoned Regulatory Affairs Sustainability and Product Stewardship Manager with 5-10 years of experience. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance acting as a vital link between the European team global customers and our parent company in China. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English with strong proficiency in German and French and will work autonomously to manage both strategic and operational regulatory tasks. This position also involves direct interaction with customers to address daily regulatory inquiries making strong industry expertise and communication skills essential. In addition to regulatory responsibilities the candidate will play a key role in driving CINICs sustainability strategy particularly by leading initiatives related to sustainability and compliance with emerging environmental standards.
Tasks
Regulatory and Sustainability Management
- Develop implement and oversee regulatory strategies to ensure full compliance with European and international regulations applicable to high-performance organic pigments.
- Lead and manage projects focused on business sustainability with a particular emphasis on establishing a comprehensive carbon footprint determination framework across CINICs operations.
- Design and implement tools methodologies and reporting mechanisms for measuring and reducing carbon emissions aligning with evolving sustainability regulations and global best practices.
- Monitor global developments in regulatory and sustainability standards including REACH CLP and international chemical safety laws and adjust strategies accordingly to ensure full compliance and proactive alignment.
Cross-Functional & International Collaboration
- Serve as the main regulatory and sustainability liaison between CINIC Chemicals Europe and the parent company in China ensuring synchronized objectives and streamlined communication.
- Drive cross-departmental coordination between regulatory affairs R&D operations and sales teams to embed sustainability and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Translate region-specific regulatory and environmental requirements for internal stakeholders ensuring comprehensive understanding and timely action across global teams.
Industry Representation
Represent CINIC actively in:
Trade associations such as ETAD
Technical and industry forums contributing to shaping evolving regulatory and sustainability frameworks.
Stay engaged in professional networks to influence anticipate and adapt to regulatory and environmental shifts in the specialty chemicals sector.
Customer Support & Documentation
- Manage day-to-day regulatory inquiries from customers providing accurate timely and standards-compliant responses.
- Support clients with the technical and environmental documentation required to meet both compliance and corporate social responsibility goals.
- Provide sustainability-related insights (e.g. carbon footprint data lifecycle impact) to customers upon request.
Operational Leadership & Autonomy
Operate independently and manage all regulatory and sustainability projects with minimal oversight.
Lead operational activities including:
Regulatory submissions
Documentation updates
Sustainability audits and lifecycle assessments
Maintenance of compliance and emissions records
Introduction implementation and ongoing maintenance of a digital system for Safety Data Sheets (SDS) ensuring accurate accessible and up-to-date information for internal teams and external partners
Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Identify and evaluate regulatory and sustainability risks across markets and supply chains.
- Develop and implement robust mitigation strategies ensuring ongoing compliance and reduced environmental impact of CINICs pigment portfolio.
- Maintain up-to-date compliance frameworks in line with regional and global standards.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education
- Masters degree in chemistry chemical engineering regulatory affairs or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
- 5-10 years of regulatory affairs experience preferably in the chemicals or pigments industry.
- Extensive experience working with REACH CLP and other international regulatory frameworks.
Language Skills
- English (fluency oral and writing)
- German and French (writing proficiency preferably in both languages).
Industry Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the pigments and chemical industries with particular expertise in organic pigments and colour chemicals.
Skills
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English German and French.
- Advanced proficiency in regulatory software and tools for compliance tracking and documentation.
- Technical competency: IUCLID Office software data management
