Job Description
Nexstar Media Inc. Americas largest local broadcasting company is seeking a Vice President & General Manager to lead its media properties in Springfield Missouri (DMA #74). The General Manager will have full oversight of Nexstars operations at KRBK Fox 49 Ozarks and KOZL (My Net) and will oversee its operational agreement with Mission Broadcasting providing services to KOLR (CBS) through an SSA as well as digital mobile and social media assets for all stations.
The stations provide local news weather and sports programing to the 31 counties in the markets DMA. KOLR 10 produces more than 20 hours of news programming a week. It also produces a daily lifestyle program - Ozarks Live! Fox 49 provides early evening and late news and is home to the Ozarks Fox AM lifestyle show.
Springfield is located in Southwest Missouri. Its considered the Gateway to the Ozarks and is home to six large lakes including Lake of the Ozarks. Visitors can explore caves hike or hunt and fish. World Headquarters for Base Pro Shop Outdoor World is a draw for many tourists and its a hit with families who can explore museums aquariums and the citys history. And its the birthplace of Route 66. Springfield is home to Missouri State University with the largest enrollment in the state of over 25-thousand students. It made the list of Best 150 cities for young families and is known for its affordable housing options. Its less than an hour from Branson Missouri and just three Hours to St. Louis and Kansas City.
The ideal candidate will utilize their proven skillsets and demonstrable experience in leading broadcast operational teams with sales-driven organizations developing locally originated content and commitment to community service to further propel our linear and digital audiences. Promoting a winning culture of teamwork within all station departments and prior success in maintaining a focus on operational efficiencies and growth in programming performance and new local revenue generation is required.
Essential Duties and Requirements
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of management experience at a commercial broadcast television station with accompanying digital assets. The right fit for this position will be a seasoned and knowledgeable professional who is a driven advocate of local broadcasting and digital service to the community in which they have previously served and a proven history of audience growth. In addition ideal candidates should possess a strong track record of revenue achievement share growth and financial expense understanding. This position requires a leader with exemplary strategic vision focused execution and a verified understanding of local outreach and thoughtful community involvement. In addition to having a proven track record of managing high-performing sales and news teams the successful candidate must be effective in collaborating with department heads and staff members while promoting teamwork within all areas of station operations preferably with oversight of a large staff. The ability to engage local community leaders and develop long-term relationships with key station clients is essential.
