Join Enbridge Gas North Carolina as a Senior Advisor Environment (Environmental Specialist III)

Enbridge Gas North Carolina a leading provider of natural gas services to over 600000 customers across the state is seeking a Senior Advisor Environment (Environmental Specialist III) to join our dynamic team!

This pivotal role involves conducting comprehensive reviews of proposed gas pipeline projects to determine environmental permitting requirements acquiring necessary permits and coordinating efforts with project managers. The primary focus will be on the construction of regulated gas pipelines and renewable gas infrastructure with potential involvement in other environmental initiatives as well.

Heres what you will do:

  • Independently develops implements coordinates and is responsible for complex environmental programs and projects which relate to company compliance with federal state and local environmental regulations.
  • Analyzes complex air water groundwater biological land ecological solid and hazardous waste chemical storage toxicological environmental justice or similar environmental program data and provides assessment reports of potential problem areas that have probable impact to the company.
  • Completes detailed evaluations of scientific reports to prepare for submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates complex environmental permitting activities for company facilities and operations.
  • Provides regulatory and scientific expertise advice guidance and interpretation to company personnel which ensures or improves compliance with all environmental regulations at company facilities.
  • Prepares and submits correspondence reports and testimonies to environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Represents company before regulatory agencies industry groups and the public on environmental issues.
  • Reads analyzes and interprets new and existing regulations.
  • Participates in developing new regulations from proposal to promulgation.
  • Develops and conducts environmental compliance training. Inspects and advises on operations construction procedures records and training to ensure compliance with environment requirements prescribed in laws regulations company policies and company procedures.
  • Uses electronic databases to analyze and monitor company compliance with regulatory requirements.

Who you are:

You have:

  • 5 years of directly related experience in addition to a bachelors degree preferably in engineering & science
  • Excellent knowledge of federal state and local environmental regulations specific to the work location along with environmental operating permits & regulations specific to the work site if responsible for contracted assets.
  • Logic and reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternatives conclusions or approaches while also showcasing excellent social skills to work with internal partners effectively.

  • Respectfully assertive to ensure environmental compliance requirements are met by others while considering the spirit and letter of the law while also having the ability to give full attention to others to take time understanding the points being made and to ask questions.
  • Strong in influencing others adapting to new actions able to embrace collaborative problem solving and remain professional while delivering high-quality reliable environmental services to customers

  • Communicate appropriately for audience needs while being able to share information and to facilitate open idea exchanges along with understanding implications of new information
  • Identify complex problems to review related information to develop and evaluate options and to implement solutions.

Working Conditions:

  • Office Work Environment 76 -100%; Travel Up to 25%.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping kneeling light moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds) reaching above shoulder repetitive motion typing sitting standing visual requirement (able to see screens detect color coding read fine print) hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
