Shape the Future of Radiation Oncology in Canada


Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a dynamic and visionary Radiation Manager to join our leadership team in the Odette Cancer Centre home to the one of the largest radiation oncology programs in Canada. This is a rare opportunity to lead within a nationally recognized cancer centre that is transforming care through innovation research and person-centered excellence.

As the Radiation Manager you will play a critical role in shaping the future of radiation therapy delivery not just for today but for generations to come.


The Radiation Manager provides strategic operational and clinical leadership to a large multidisciplinary team within the Department of Radiation Oncology. Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Odette Cancer Program you will lead initiatives that enhance clinical care optimize operational performance and support a culture of innovation and excellence.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a long-term vision for the radiation therapy program aligned with Sunnybrooks strategic plan and the Cancer Programs strategic goals.
  • Identify and lead transformational initiatives that support the growth of radiotherapy and personalized care models.
  • Foster a culture of continuous innovation and learning enabling the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as MR-guided radiotherapy AI-enhanced planning and real-time adaptive treatment protocols.


Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily operations of radiation therapy services ensuring safe effective and timely patient care across all treatment areas.
  • Collaborate with leaders in medical physics radiation oncology nursing health professionals and IT to ensure seamless interprofessional workflows.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance patient access reduce wait times and optimize throughput in a complex high-volume environment.

People & Culture

  • Lead mentor and support a large team of radiation therapists clinical educators advanced practitioners and administrative staff.
  • Foster an inclusive empowering work culture rooted in respect collaboration and professional development.
  • Promote staff engagement through transparent communication coaching and recognition of excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Management team to support recruitment strategies including identifying early-career talent development and succession planning in the Radiation Therapy department


Quality & Safety

  • Champion clinical quality safety and regulatory compliance across all areas of radiation treatment.
  • Lead quality improvement and risk mitigation initiatives using data-informed decision-making.
  • Monitor clinical performance indicators patient outcomes and feedback to inform practice and enhance care delivery.

Academic and Research Collaboration

  • Collaborate with academic leaders and researchers to support clinical trials education and translational research in radiation oncology.
  • Enable staff participation in professional development teaching and scholarly activity.
  • Support the integration of evidence-based practice and clinical innovation into daily operations.

Qualification:

  • Completion of accredited radiation therapy training program and completion of university equivalent Bachelors degree(required); Masters degree in Health Administration Leadership or a related field required
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) or equivalent regulatory body
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a radiation therapy setting with a strong understanding of clinical workflows adaptive radiotherapy and emerging technologies
  • Proven ability to lead change build effective teams and manage complex health systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational planning project management and strategic execution
  • Excellent communication collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
