JOB SUMMARY
As Mandated by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations(CFR)the candidate will be in charge of all aspects of navigation safety and securityof a Class H high capacity passenger vessel. Supervises the safe operation of the vessel. Maintains a high level of safety and security of the vessel its passengers and crew. Adheres to and directs vessel operations according to the rules set forth and enforced by the U.S. Coast Guard.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 5 years experience in vessel of similar capacity or related professional area
United States Coast Guard Masters License (1600 gross tons or greater).
Valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Valid radar endorsement.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license.
Preferred:
Current CPR certificate.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Vessel Operations
Directs the total operation of the vessels through respective departmental representatives.
Serves as Vessel Security Officer/ Facility Security Officer as mandated by the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) 2002
Implements a high state of readiness regarding all emergency conditions that might occur while underway or at dockside.
Supervises the maintenance of all vessel related inspection records.
Increases the effectiveness of the crew in all areas of guest and crew safety.
Drives Revenue and guest satisfaction by selling upgraded ticket options for pilot house tours. and Captains Tables
Monitoring Safety and Security
Provides a safe operation for the passengers and crew which meet the requirements set forth by Gaylord and the Coast Guard.
Monitors the inspection of all vessel emergency equipment. Decommission repair or install all required safety and/or security appliances according to CFRs Federal Register Marine Safely Manual or NVIC.
Supervises all security programs protocols training and awareness meet or exceed MTSA requirements.
Manages training and preparedness of the emergency brigade including training of safety sensitive crew and all related drills.
Coordinates all safety training for all departments of the General Jackson.
Develop and implement safety programs and procedures.
Maintains minimum risk on behalf of Marriott and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Implements drills and emergency training as performed to meet or exceed Coast Guard requirements
Maintaining Property Standards
Serves as the principle contact with the U.S. Coast Guard on matters affecting the vessels.
Maintains daily vessel operations logbook as required by United States Coast Guard regulations.
Maintains operation in order to meet all laws and regulations according to Non-tank Vessel Response Plan with regards to pollution of any kind which is required by the United States Coast Guard and all other legal authorities.
Manages current records required by Marriott and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities
Interviews selects and trains employees
Appraises employees productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status
Provides for the safety and security of the employees or the property
Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.
Helps direct supervisors to achieve their own development goals.
Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
The salary range for this position is $76000 to $100000 annually.
