Job Description

Position Summary
BeverageCaptains are our in-house wine and beverage experts whose focus is onmaximizing overall beverage sales and delivering an exceptional guestexperience. The Beverage Captain is responsible for overall guest service andsatisfaction recommending wine and food pairings educating guests on beverageselections and beverage department support in areas such as monthly wine knowledge is a prerequisite.

Overview of Responsibilities

Maximize beverage sales Including wine beer spiritsand deliver exceptional guest experiences

Drive beverage sales on the floor by upsellingsuggesting educating and interacting with guests

Handle table bottle orders through from beginning toend including order taking delivery proper opening and service andcheckbacks

Ensure wine quality before every shift

Maintain a floor presence during service to attend toguest needs touch tables and assist in service as necessary

Attend daily pre-shift to communicate daily beverageproducts in and out of stock and conduct trainings and/or tastings asappropriate

Guide and teach staff about beverage offerings andanswer questions to further staff education and menu knowledge

Actively participate in beverage inventories on adaily and monthly basis when needed including but not limited to countingstocking inventories and updating 86 board as well as counts for wine tomesin service ensuring tomes are current and in good condition

Follow all health and safety regulations includingenforcing laws and ordinances in the handling and provision of alcoholicbeverages

Follow all company policies procedures andguidelines including being ready to work at scheduled shift time in uniformwith neat and presentable appearance

Maintain cleanliness and safety of all workareas

Perform all other reasonably assigned duties

Minimum Qualifications

3 years as a sommelier/wine steward in a fast-paced high-volumeservice environment and/or equivalent relevant experience

Extensive knowledge of and a genuine love for wine winemakingbeer and spirits

Ability to consistently deliver high-quality guest experiencesexceed guest expectations and strive to create a memorable experience at everyCity Winery visit

Strong work ethic team player and exceptional guest serviceskills

Ability to execute professional guest service experience with acalm and composed demeanor

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Polished presentation

Ability to take direction from others

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven abilityto build positive relationships with coworkers and guests

Aptitude to resolve problems

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Must be fluently literate in English including ability to readwrite and communicate conduct basic business-related mathematics able toaccurately function a POS

Ability to work a flexible schedule including days nightsweekends and holidays

Ability to perform physical requirements of the role includingstanding/walking for the entirety of shift bending pulling pushing usingstairs lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
