Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned and forward-thinkingDirector of External Reportingto join our Controllers team. This pivotal role will oversee the preparation and delivery of financial disclosures and regulatory filings ensuring compliance with global standards while driving innovation through emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision to elevate our external reporting capabilities in a dynamic and highly regulated industry.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

External Reporting & Compliance:

  • Lead the preparation review and filing of financial reports including SEC filings (10-K 10-Q 8-K) and other global regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP IFRS and local statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies auditors and internal stakeholders on reporting matters.

Regulatory Expertise:

  • Maintain deep expertise in SEC regulations Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and other relevant global reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in accounting standards reporting guidelines and regulatory frameworks proactively advising the organization on their impact.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Implement and leverage emerging technologies such as AI-driven analytics robotic process automation (RPA) and blockchain to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with IT and finance teams to evaluate and integrate advanced reporting tools and platforms ensuring scalability and data integrity.
  • Champion the use of XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) for improved digital reporting compliance.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Build and lead a high-performing external reporting team fostering a culture of innovation accountability and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance legal compliance and investor relations to ensure alignment and consistency in disclosures.
  • Provide training and guidance on reporting standards and emerging trends to stakeholders across the organization.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize reporting processes reduce cycle times and enhance transparency
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting aligning with SOX compliance requirements
  • Actively participate in special projects such as ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) reporting integrating non-financial disclosures into the companys broader reporting strategy

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or a related field. CPA CMA or equivalent certification required; advanced degree (MBA or Masters in Accounting) preferred
  • Experience:Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in external reporting or financial leadership roles preferably within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
  • Regulatory Expertise:Proven track record managing SEC filings and staying ahead of evolving regulatory requirements
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency with financial systems and software (e.g. SAP Oracle Workiva). Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau) and advanced Excel skills
  • Innovative Mindset:Demonstrated experience implementing technology solutions in financial reporting with a focus on automation and digital transformation
  • Leadership:Strong leadership and team-building capabilities with experience managing and developing diverse global teams
  • Communication:Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences

Other Job Details

  • Must be able to work in assigned Pfizer office 2-3 days per week or as needed by the business

  • Overtime hours will be required during the financial close and reporting periods

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169700.00 to $282900.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
