The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our team in our BlueScope Building Components business as a Nightshift Operations Supervisor at our Novar Gardens facility in South Australia.

In this hands-on role youll oversee a shift that includes operating roll-forming machines loading steel products onto trucks and ensuring on-time delivery to customers. As a leader you will prioritise safety as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products. You will lead motivate and develop our high-performing team with a focus on continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and effectiveness in operations.

This role will require you to lead a permanent night shift team. Hours are Sunday to Thursday 10.30pm to 6.30am

What Will You Do

While engaging and leading the team youll actively participate in providing the required operational discipline and continuous improvement. Youll work closely with the production team and be responsible for:

  • Prioritising Safety: Maintaining a steadfast commitment to safety standards proactively identifying risks and opportunities and implementing suitable changes to mitigate risks and uphold safety protocols.
  • Developing Strong Relationships: Cultivating relationships with the Senior leadership team peers and team leaders.  Work collaboratively with transport contracting team.
  • Promoting Well-being and Inclusive Behaviours: Championing a culture of well-being and inclusivity within the team fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
  • Managing Shift Operations: Effectively managing shift operations to meet business targets uphold operational standards and ensure seamless coordination between team members.
  • Supporting Operational Efficiency: Overseeing operational contractor management optimising cost efficiencies and ensuring prompt service delivery to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Managing Volume Fluctuations: Strategising and adapting to large volume fluctuations to ensure smooth operations amidst challenges posed by varying demand or critical project timelines.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively seek out continuous improvement initiatives and implement to the wider team
  • Providing Coaching and Mentoring: Offering guidance and mentorship to direct reports and team members fostering professional development and skill enhancement.

More About You

You will be an engaging leader focused on developing your team to deliver creative solutions to complex problems. In addition you will bring:

  • experience working within an operations warehousing or logistics environment with exposure to process manufacturing
  • experience in achieving manufacturing excellence will be advantageous
  • the ability to deal with ambiguity and change
  • the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • an ability to translate business objectives to clear actions and outcomes for your team
  • an ability to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements scheduling and people demands
  • leadership and guidance ensuring your team follows manufacturing excellence targets
