Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering and Digital Sciences

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Nazarbayev University is seeking highly qualified full-time faculty members with international experience to join its rapidly growing program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences. Applicants with research and/or teaching interests are encouraged to apply. 

Successful candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or very closely related discipline from a reputable research university and a demonstrated ability for research. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate within a team to deliver teaching and research related to broad area of electrical and computer engineering.

All candidates must have excellent English-language communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching and research.

Position responsibilities include an average teaching load of two (2) courses per semester ongoing engagement in relevant professional and research activities student advising and other activities related to the intellectual and cultural environment of the university.

Qualifications :

• PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or relevant fields from a reputable university with a proven research track record and teaching experience.
• Preferred: Postdoctoral experience or a strong record of scholarly productivity.
• Proven track record of impactful research in AI/ML demonstrated by publications in reputable journals or conferences.
• Demonstrated expertise in core AI theory with a strong track record in developing novel algorithms and techniques and the ability to work effectively with diverse data type.
• Teaching experience with Electrical and Computer Engineering discipline AI/ML applications in areas such as AI for edge devices AI in Engineering Pattern Recognition and AI for Internet-of-Things (IoT).
• Ability to secure external funding for research initiatives.
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience working with culturally diverse and underrepresented communities.
• Ability in developing AI and ML courses for industry short-course trainings and professional program courses.
• Ability to revise curriculum to include cutting-edge AI tools and techniques.
