You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Leased Housing Department (LHD) is seeking a Manager for its Certification Unit. The Unit is responsible for processing owner correspondence certifying repairs rent abatements payment adjustments and terminating for non-compliance with HUDs inspection standards.
Reporting directly to the Director the Manager will have some latitude for independent initiative and decision making. The Manager will supervise day-to-day operations by overseeing office staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
the certification unit staff.
assignments workload and performance.
and evaluate Certification of Completed Repairs and other inspection-related documents.
and analyze progress reports.
research and analyze data to identify productivity and other trends.
with other departments on various projects and issue resolution.
suspensions reinstatements and approve payment adjustments for property owners.
Section 8 Subsidy payment adjustments for reinstatements ensuring payments are processed in accordance with NYCHA/Leased Housing policy and procedures.
cases under long-term suspensions initiate terminations and process move-offs in accordance with policy and procedures.
and ensure timely response to inquiries including correspondence from advocates property owners voucher holders and other third parties.
administrative tasks related to staff management including reviewing productivity administrative tasks staff development disciplinary actions and issue escalation.
other tasks as needed to support and improve the overall operations of the Inspections Department.
NOTE: The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) administered a civil service exam for the Housing Manager title on 07/22/2024. Therefore applicants (candidates) that did not take and pass the exam will potentially not be considered likewise applicants not reachable on the established civil service list will potentially be in jeopardy of being replaced with an eligible civil service candidate.

HOUSING MANAGER (HA) - 80210
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time satisfactory supervisory and/or administrative experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments including overseeing the performance of duties such as: interviewing applicants determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant related problems; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of the full-time satisfactory experience as described in 1 above; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in 1 or 2 above. Undergraduate college credits may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full-time satisfactory experience. However all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
