Position Overview: Virology Team Product Development Science & Technology
AbbVies Product Development Science & Technology Virology team is seeking dynamic candidates to support both pipeline and commercially available products. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities across the product lifecycle from late-stage process development and BLA/NDA submissions to ongoing market support. Key responsibilities for the role:
- Viral Control Strategies: Develop and implement comprehensive viral control strategies ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
- Innovative Solutions: Lead the innovation and optimization of new methods techniques and experimental approaches to address challenges in viral safety control and testing.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Build and maintain effective collaborations with various scientific disciplines. Your work will focus on establishing improved process conditions enhancing viral control and refining regulatory strategies.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster an environment of open honest and candid communication to drive creative continuous improvements across the team.
- Patient Impact: Demonstrate a strong commitment to AbbVies mission striving to make a meaningful impact on the patients we serve.
- Virology Support and Method Enhancement: Provide expert support in virology particularly involving animal-sourced APIs. Execute and refine quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) and in vitro cell culture virus infectivity assays for continuous improvement.
- Scientific Documentation: Author and review scientific reports and regulatory submissions ensuring they meet regulatory and accuracy standards.
- BSL-2 Facility Operations: Conduct research involving potentially biohazardous viruses in BioSafety Level 2 (BSL-2) facilities strictly adhering to safety protocols to maintain a secure laboratory environment.
- Literature Application and Problem Solving: Stay informed of the latest scientific literature and apply theoretical frameworks to effectively and efficiently solve problems.
Qualifications :
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Virology or similar field.
Preferred Skills:
- qPCR Expertise: Proficiency in the development execution optimization and troubleshooting of quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) methods.
- Cell Culture and Microscopy: Strong skills in cell culture techniques and microscopy crucial for viral studies and analysis.
- Molecular Biology and Aseptic Technique: Solid background in molecular biology and adeptness in aseptic techniques to ensure contamination-free experiments.
- Immunofluorescence: Experience with immunofluorescence techniques for the detection and analysis of viral components.
- Viral Clearance Procedures: Understanding and application of viral clearance methodologies to ensure product safety.
- Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate recognize and effectively resolve problems within laboratory and project settings.
- cGMP Environment Proficiency: Experience working in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) environments to ensure compliance and high-quality outputs.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Ability to effectively collaborate within a Cross Functional Team (CFT) environment to achieve project goals.
- CMC Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) regulatory issues crucial for successful product development and compliance.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. Salary: $94000 - $178500

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
