What is it all about
Reporting to the Senior Director Head of Commercial Development UK & Ireland (UK&I) this role is responsible for providing deal leadership financial expertise and business decision-making / governance support in respect to commercial agreements in UK&I maintaining a high standard of financial discipline and accountability. The role will support Client Account teams and Business Development teams to evaluate new deal proposals and recommend commercial and financial structures and solutions that can satisfy both client and Visa needs while meeting governance requirements.
The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills and operate comfortably within Business Development Sales Finance and Executive circles both internally and externally. They will be able to build a profile as a trusted advisor across UK&I and the wider Europe organization and will form close working relationships with Finance Legal and Sales colleagues supporting approvals and sign off processes for a portfolio of UK&I related commercial offers and deals. The successful candidate should also be comfortable with client sales negotiations as some deals will require direct involvement with clients.
In addition this role will support Value-in-Kind (VIK) reporting and planning activities for the UK&I helping to ensure UK&I VIK budget planning and VIK delivery meet expectations.
What we expect of you day to day:
- Advise on strategies and required scenario analysis for key client proposals oversee modelling accuracy of the business cases and support the internal governance at appropriate stages in the deal life cycle including the preparation of briefing documents required to gain regional and global executive level approvals.
- Contribute end to end on a portfolio of RFPs and deals not limited to commercial aspects.
- Provide key financial and commercial support through the provision of accurate timely and insightful data and analysis to support investment appraisal and optimal decision making.
- Provide deal benchmarking and develop other insight analysis to support wider UK&I commercial decision making.
- Help to drive commercial discipline and accountability across the UK&I and support our work to shift the responsibilities of deal execution to Account Executives and Business Development Executives.
- Support the ongoing focus to ensure greater emphasis on Value Added Services Commercial Solutions and Money Movement Solutions opportunities in deals to drive incremental revenues.
- Be curious about the UK & Ireland external environments and ensure that regulatory and legal guidance is fully reflected in decision making processes and our work.
- Identify and champion ideas to improve local regional and global deal processes tools and frameworks to drive improved finance operations and aid in the delivery of a single simpler global deal model.
- Involvement in the development of enhanced MI reporting on deal performance and analysis of the issuer deals pipeline.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications :

- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree
- Advanced academic qualifications preferably covering business-related subjects.
- Payment industry or retail banking experience with a broad understanding of Visa products and solutions.
- Excellent commercial acumen with a proven record of analysing business performance identifying trends and issues and challenging the norm.
- Analytical and lateral thinking problem solver with demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide recommended approaches.
- Superior communication skills able to take highly complex inter-connected issues remove ambiguity and land messages to senior stakeholders without becoming overly detailed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully promote concept and collaborate across different teams.
- Motivated self-starter who can build and cultivate effective relationships at all levels including senior executives and stakeholders both internally and with clients.
- Team oriented collaborative diplomatic and flexible with excellent presentation skills including strong oral and writing capabilities.
- Broad understanding of regulatory aspects including competition restrictions.
- Curious with proven ability to identify and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
