The Tactical Radars and Effectors department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering supports the development production and deployment of multiple defense products including radars missiles command and control systems and naval electronics. The products support US Government and international customers.

The Tactical Radars and Effectors department is seeking a Principal Mechanical Hardware Engineer located in Tucson AZ (On-site).

This Cross Product Team Lead (CPTL) role will support the Javelin missile product line and may require domestic and international travel to suppliers.

What You Will Do

  • Drive technical and programmatic execution (performance/cost/schedule) for mechanical engineering across multiple products (IPTs) within the Javelin portfolio.

  • Define staffing needs for mechanical engineering and collaborate with functional leadership to staff to demand.

  • Provide transparent identification and communication of issues to program and functional leadership and engagement for resources (Tech Pyramids SMEs etc.) to resolve rapidly and efficiently.

  • Drives integration across IPTs/CPTs in the Javelin portfolio to ensure successful system design integration and program execution.

  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities and associated mitigation and capture plans for programs.

  • Primary technical authority and point of contact for all aspects associated with the system technical data package including design development manufacturing and failure investigation

  • Understanding of and disciplined application of tools / processes / approaches / instructions across the product life cycle

  • Ensures application and efficiency of technical process. Key participant in NARs Engineering Proposal Reviews (EPRs) system/project level TRRs ERBs CCBs as required by command media

  • Supports program growth and technology insertion strategies working closely with the program technical leadership Chief Technologists and Technical Directors.

  • Responsible for new business proposals mechanical scope ensuring proposals have a robust technical baseline bid basis of estimate and robust risk and opportunities. Responsible for ensuring proposals are reviewed and approved by engineering discipline leadership as applicable.

  • Primary technical interface with top level program organizations for planning and execution of proposals new starts lateral product applications and major ECPs.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelors Degree in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant professional experience. Advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience.

  • Leadership experience on a program leadership role.

  • Experience with cost and/or schedule responsibilities.

  • Experience with product lifecycle stages of a missile production program.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working in a factory supporting full rate production of missile components and assemblies.

  • Experience working with suppliers that manufacture machined castings molded plastics and foam.

  • Experience in manufacturing and tolerancing of Infrared and Optical systems.

  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances).

  • Experience managing technical data packages in cPDM.
