Oxford Nanopore was founded in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford and now employs over 1000 employees around the world.
The management team led by CEO Dr Gordon Sanghera has a track record of delivering disruptive technologies to the market.
Oxford Nanopores sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis (for rapid insights) in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-long read lengths.
Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing by anyone anywhere. We offer real-time nanopore-based DNA/RNA sequencing technology: accessible easy to use and fully scalable for any requirement.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Machine Learning team as a Research Scientist. This role will involve collaborating with groups across the company to apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to a range of high-impact scientific and engineering challenges. Examples of projects you might work on include analysing data from new sequencing systems for RNA DNA or peptides crafting nanopore-tailored bioinformatics tools or leveraging machine learning to tailor biomolecules for nanopore sensing applications.

Using knowledge of machine learning to solve complex problems in nanopore sensing biomolecule design and modelling
Collaborating with a variety of scientific and engineering partners
Developing robust tools and deploying to external users
Communicating results to technical and non-technical audiences to maximise the impact of research
Working independently and as part of the team

What Were Looking For...
A PhD (or equivalent practical experience) in Computational Biology Computer Science Bioinformatics or a related subject area.
Experience in biomolecular modelling structure prediction small molecule docking and design

Nice to have:
- A publication track record or contribution to open-source tools in the field of biomolecular modelling
- Experience in pre-training fine-tuning and benchmarking large-scale machine-learning models
- Familiarity with structural biology tools and databases
Knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and the ability to keep on top of research developments in the field.
