This position is responsible for the training and supervision of offenders in the troubleshooting manufacturing rebuilding and/or repair of sign manufacturing equipment. Facility repairs consisting of HVAC building maintenance electrical plumbing carpentry welding machine shop and other types of repairs are typically resolved by this position. Equipment types consist of electrical pneumatic hydraulic and manual types. This position will inspect and maintain all safety equipment such as fire sprinkler and smoke detectors. This position will develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule for numerous pieces of equipment. This employee is responsible for chemical tool and key inventories and evaluates any changes or needs in inmate staffing. This employee is responsible for quality of the material produced within his departments. This employee must ensure all procedures are carried out according to manufacturers recommendations. This employee will research and make recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment. This employee is responsible for requesting and obtaining quotes for all equipment and repairs for the plant. This employee will be responsible for two medium security offenders in the assistance of job responsibilities. This employee will also be part of the plant safety committee and work closely with safety personnel to resolve issues. This employee will also complete other duties as needed by upper management.

Documented facility maintenance experience.
Documented (proficient) use of electrical plumbing carpentry pneumatic and/or welding skills.
Must have a valid NC Drivers License.
Licensed in one or more maintenance skilled trades.

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two (2) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F
