Job Description

Position Title: Librarian Head of Technical Services

Department: University Library

Campus Location:Washburn University

Application Deadline:June 14 2025 by 5:00 p.m..

Position Summary: Washburn Universitys University Libraries invites applications for Librarian/Head of Technical Services to begin September 1 2025. This is a 12-month full-time position.

Each selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage all learners.

Essential Functions:
Oversees acquisition of materials in all formats.
Maintains and monitors library acquisition funds and budgets in consultation with the Dean of University Libraries.
Negotiates licensing agreements with vendors in collaboration with Dean of University Libraries and monitors and invoicing.
Compiles and maintains statistics to support ongoing assessment of library collections and their use.
Performs original complex and copy cataloging of materials in all formats including electronic resources.
Leads the building and maintenance of the University Institutional Repository.
Fulfill teaching expectations associated with librarian appointment.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
ALA-accredited masters degree in Library or Information Science.
Experience or course work that demonstrates familiarity with ACRL Framework for Libraries in Higher Education.
Demonstrated dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage all learners.
Official educational transcripts are required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
An additional masters degree in any subject taught at Washburn University.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
