The Financial Aid Counselor Senior is responsible for managing one or more federal state and institutional financial aid programs with a primary focus on the Federal Work-Study program. This role provides vital support to the Director and Associate Director in the administration of student financial aid and scholarship programs ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations as well as institutional policies. The position reports directly to the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid Operations. Description of Job Duty Manage one or more federal state and institutional financial aid programs with primary responsibility for the administration of the Federal Work-Study program. This includes ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations developing and maintaining comprehensive written procedures and adhering to an annual schedule of activities and deadlines. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and managing program budgets reconciling student aid fund accounts and ensuring the efficient and compliant delivery of funds to eligible students. Analyze interpret and follow federal state and institutional regulations and guidelines in administering the various federal state and institutional student aid scholarship programs. Prepares reports and records to ensure fiscal accountability of financial aid programs. Perform student aid need analysis verification of financial data and other criteria to confirm student aid eligibility federal state and institutional financial aid award packaging process and originate student loans for students and parents and other procedures necessary to deliver financial aid to students. Counsel and advise students on the student aid application process requirements for eligibility need analysis the process for change in financial circumstances rights and responsibilities regarding student aid academic progress requirements and procedures for appealing and other information related to the student scholarships grants and loans. Assist the Director and Associate Director in establishing and implementing financial aid guidelines policies and procedures. Assist in the development and maintenance of the policies and procedures manual. Work closely with the Associate Director delegate and oversee work given to support staff and student workers. Conduct Student Financial Aid workshops and Debt counseling presentations. Represent the Office of Financial Aid serves as a member of various on-campus and/or external professional committees. Other duties as assigned.
