Job Description

St. Patrick Catholic Church

Jacksonville FL

Music Director

Reports to: Pastor
Part Time including weekends
FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Play the organ at three weekend Masses (5:00 PM on Saturdays 8:00 and 10:00 AM on Sundays) and Holy Days.
  • Direct the Adult and Childrens scholas and lead a weekly rehearsal for each.
  • Train cantors and facilitate formation of singers in liturgy sacred music and traditional Latin chant and choral.
  • Plan sacred music for all liturgical celebrations in the parish and provide and arrange for music at non-scheduled liturgies such as weddings and funerals.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Practicing Catholics with knowledge of Catholic liturgy and Gregorian chant both Latin and English.
  • Previous choral conducting experience and requisite organ skills are required (the organ is a 3-manual Johannus Ecclesia).
  • Ability to effectively lead rehearsals and endeavor to cultivate a love of authentic liturgical music.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients vendors employees and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
