Job Description
This person will teach Certified Nurse Aide ( CNA ) and short term health-related courses which could include CNA clinical learning experiences EMT /Paramedic BLS and Phlebotomy. Will assist with and coordinate skills testing and assist with and oversee CNA and other health-related course files and assure their compliance with the Department of Inspections and Appeals ( DIA ) and other regulatory or accrediting bodies.
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. This would require the ability to lift roughly 50 lbs textbooks and student work open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods walking standing and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Requires the ability to sit or stand in a classroom during extended instructional periods.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with licensure as a registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state or the ability to obtain one. Bachelors degree in Nursing or enrollment in a Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Minimum two years total of full-time clinical nursing experience. Minimum of 1 year in long term care nursing preferred. Clinical nursing experience in emergency care or with EMS preferred. CNA instructor status or ability to obtain CNA instructor status. Certified BLS / ACLS instructor or ability to obtain at a minimum BLS instructor status. Certified in phlebotomy through NCCT or ability to obtain certification preferred. Completion of an Expanded Intravenous Therapy Course preferred. Experience working in education preferred. Must relate well to people and display a high degree of competency within the field. Must be capable of creating a classroom environment which is conducive to student learning. Must demonstrate strong organizational and record keeping skills.
