PURPOSE
The Institutional Repository Specialist under the direction of the Scholarly Communication Librarian is responsible for maintaining Texas A&M University-Corpus Christis institutional repository (IR). Responsibilities include but are not limited to building new IR collections and workflows; quality-checking IR submissions and metadata; checking copyright policies; serving as first point of contact for all IR-related requests and technical support; and identifying and soliciting new content.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Operations
Percent Effort: 60%
Identifies faculty works and researches copyright permissions and policies for archiving the works in the repository. Communicates with faculty authors. Consults as needed with the Scholarly Communications Librarian.
Maintains the data integrity of the IR. Applies IR-related metadata standards including name authority control. Works with Cataloging and Metadata Librarian on issues related to metadata in IR. Performs batch loading and batch correction of IR submissions and metadata. Performs quality checks on IR submissions (including accessibility).
Creates and maintains repository communities and collections related to faculty and student scholarship.
Approves formatting of electronic theses and dissertations uploads them to the IR and manages embargo requests.
Works with Special Collections and Archives on practices related to preserving digital scholarship.
Functional Area 2: Administrative
Percent Effort: 25%
Supports the Open Access Publication Fund by tracking applications corresponding with faculty applicants and library business affairs personnel approves funding and uploads necessary materials
Creates and maintains institutional repository-related documentation and workflows. Provides instruction to IR contributors and users.
Represents the library on the Texas Digital Librarys Dspace Users Group and communicates as necessary with other library units about Dspace upgrades policy changes and other important information.

Percent Effort: 15%
Works on departmental initiatives and projects with others.
Serves on library and university committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree
One (1) year of library work experience
Additional experience may be used as a substitute for the minimum education requirement: Associate degree and three (3) years of library work experience.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent customer service interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of academic library work experience
Relevant library experience in cataloging or working with digital collections including knowledge of digital content and metadata standards specifically Dublin Core
Experience working with data in spreadsheets and/or data management systems
Demonstrated skills in project management and problem solving
Experience with digital repository software
Experience with the full life cycle of publishing including copyright and Creative Commons licensing author agreements and publisher self-archiving policies
Experience with accessibility best practices for digital documents
Experience with OpenRefine or similar data cleanup and transformation tool(s)
Experience with technical troubleshooting and providing user platform support
Anticipated starting salary $18.28 hourly ($38019 Annually Approximately)
