Position Summary
The Director of Operations sits on the Superintendents Cabinet and serves under the broad guidance and administration of the Superintendent or Superintendents Designee. The Director of Operations is responsible for results in terms of effectiveness of planning policies and programs and for achievement of district goals and objectives. Work is guided by and must be in compliance with federal and state law state auditor requirements operational direction of the Superintendent or Superintendents Designee policy direction of the School Board and compliance with state and local regulatory agencies. This position provides leadership problem-solving supervision system-evaluation and management for departments designated by the Superintendent which may include Maintenance and Facilities Services Nutrition Services Technology Services and Transportation services among others.
Essential Functions
- Overall responsibility for Facilities Services Nutrition Services Transportation Services Auxiliary Services Community Education and Technology Services including the supervision of individuals managing these services.
- Provide leadership coordination development implementation and evaluation of the Districts facilities and maintenance programs.
- Oversee the development execution support and evaluation of a robust and comprehensive information technology (IT) system.
- Plan manage and supervise the District transportation program to provide timely consistent and safe transportation for students.
- Coordinate with contracted Nutrition Services administrator(s) to manage supervise and monitor nutrition programs in District schools. Responsible for federal and state reporting.
- Oversee the development fiscal management and program quality of Oregon City Community Education.
- Act as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the operational affairs of the District. Attend to proactive and regular communication with District leadership in decision making.
- Assist Supervisors and coordinators in recruiting hiring training supervising and evaluating all non-licensed and support staff personnel within assigned departments.
- Ensure the direction of departments within their supervision are aligned with the Strategic Plan and vision under the Superintendent.
- Manage the Districts real estate insurance and risk management programs.
- Develop a facility expansion program including the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee and supervise plant construction.
- Interpret the operational concerns of the District to the community.
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Districts capital improvements program to include planning design contracting construction and program evaluation of capital projects.
- As part of the Superintendents Cabinet work harmoniously with other administrators in the collaborative leadership of the district.

- Ability to remain calm deliberate and tactful in stressful and emotional situations. Will be required to interact with staff students and community members who are upset angry or distraught. In such interactions the employee must be able to maintain control decorum and professionalism.

- Ability to follow district policies and procedures at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Business Organizational Leadership Education Administration.
- Minimum of five years experience in an educational setting or business function or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum three years successful supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with Oregon school finance and administration.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Successful completion of criminal history records check as required by law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish-English
- TSPC Professional Administrator License
- Strong lens on educational equity and serving the needs of each and every student
This position is 1.0 FTE; 260 days per year
