Our client a privately held and established organization operating as part of a diversified group of companies is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their collaborative team in Halifax. In this permanent role the successful candidate will be responsible for managing full-cycle payroll across multiple employee groups ensuring accuracy compliance and timely processing.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:- Process semi-monthly payroll for multiple business units
- Manage complex pay structures across groups including variations in compensation benefits and deductions
- Validate and input timesheets bonuses commissions vacation pay and other earnings
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation including income tax CPP EI and employment standards
- Prepare and file year-end documentation including T4s T4As ROEs etc.
- Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger
- Manage and respond to inquiries from employees
- Support the development and enhancement of standardized payroll practices
- Keep informed about changes in payroll legislation
- 3 years experience processing full-cycle Canadian payroll in a multi-entity/shared services environment
- Proficient in ADP systems with demonstrated ability to manage multiple payrolls concurrently
- Strong knowledge of federal and provincial payroll compliance requirements
- Detail-oriented organized and confident dealing with sensitive payroll information
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
