Job Duties

This position manages a comprehensive multi-district nursing program typically through supervision of Registered Nurse Managers I for the Pittsylvania-Danville and Southside Health Districts. Manages a comprehensive district nursing program typically through supervision of Registered Nurse Managers I. Responsibilities include developing external funding sources; managing FTEs and budget; developing private and public partnerships; and developing and implementing long term staff development plans. Recruits staff procures and administers grants conducts community needs assessment allocates resources monitors quality assurance of service delivery and serves as district management team member. Requires licensure as a RN by state code.

VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B measles mumps rubella and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current years seasonal influenza vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum KSAs:
Extensive knowledge of nursing management public health nursing and practices of public health
Proven ability to provide effective leadership and operations management; ability to direct subordinate nurse managers and supervisors in achieving agency objectives
Excellent skills in oral and written communication community assessment planning and staff development
Considerable ability to collaboratively lead staff synthesize and interpret data and communicate effectively with staff patients and the public; ability to monitor and evaluate quality assurance of nursing programs; ability to present results and nursing outcomes to internal and external constituencies
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
Valid Drivers License is required

Additional Considerations

Nursing and senior-level administrative and supervisory experience in public health as well as experience with the Incident Command System (ICS) is preferred
