Pima County has an opening for a Human Resources Specialist in the Benefits and Wellness Division. As part of the Human Resources team you will assist County employees with benefit questions and provide support as needed. This position manages various responsibilities essential for organizational success.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. Maintains the security and confidentiality of all departmental employee and client records in compliance with County state and federal laws rules and policies;
Creates prepares and updates confidential records and specialized databases ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures;
Reviews and verifies forms applications and documentation submitted by constituents for accuracy and completeness;
Compiles enters retrieves and updates data in spreadsheets and specialized databases to generate reports and track program activities;
Prepares and distributes correspondence reports memos manuals flyers and bulletins using templates and approved formats;
Conducts research and prepares findings reports and documentation for supervisor review and decision-making;
Keeps current on County state and federal policies and regulations relevant to the assigned area and communicates pertinent updates;
Establishes organizes and maintains specialized files and reference libraries to support operational efficiency;
Manages scheduling and logistics for trainings orientations and other program-related events;
Responds to general inquiries from employees and the public providing program-specific information or routing them appropriately;
Screens and directs telephone calls ensuring timely and accurate communication with internal and external contacts;
Represents the work unit in meetings and group presentations conveying relevant information and updates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience performing general office clerical or personnel/human resources clerical support activities.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
One year of experience with Pima County in an Administrative Assistant III or related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Benefits and wellness administration experience.
Experience with communication both verbal and written.
Computer experience utilizing Excel Word PowerPoint and Access.
Experience with/knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to employee benefits/wellness.
Selection Process:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.
