Aecon Nuclear is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer with experience with general mechanical equipment piping and ductwork design with a general understanding of equipment fabrication techniques. This position would be onsite in our Jackson SC Fabrication facility.
Responsibilities include design of mechanical equipment systems and components then moving those designs into fabrication testing and final installation. The successful candidate can look forward to a diverse mix of projects and tasks that support the US Nuclear Federal Industrial and Power Industries.
What Youll Do Here
- Design of equipment components and systems serving the nuclear heavy industrial or power industries.
- Perform component sizing thermal load fluid and gaseous pressure loss and material calculations.
- Working knowledge of equipment and component design and manufacturing techniques
- Interface with shop fabrication and construction workforce to resolve component fabrication and installation issues.
- Develop procurement specifications prepare engineering and design drawings
- Prepare physical equipment drawings piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID) airflow diagrams orthographic and system layout drawings
- Develop work packages for fabrication and installation of components.
- Work with the fabrication shop team to design and manufacture equipment and components.
- Develop material and workhour estimates as needed to support proposal development.
- Prepare specifications for selection of suitable materials for construction and welding requirements
- Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
- Assist in the development of detailed execution plans and scheduling of engineering and fabrication tasks
What You Bring To The Team
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
- Eight (8) years of experience with the design of mechanical systems serving the nuclear heavy industrial and power industries.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with the design and fabrication of mechanical equipment serving the nuclear heavy industrial or power industries.
- Licensed professional engineer (PE) and capable of attaining a PE in South Carolina
- Knowledgeable on ASME B31.1 Power Piping code and 31.3 Process piping code
