Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Claims Examiner to join our high-performing team in Richmond VA. This individual will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of first-party and third-party property claims under multiple coverage forms including Homeowners Inland Marine and Commercial Property. This is a key role in maintaining our standards of excellence in claims service and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage a wide variety of first-party property and third-party claims across multiple jurisdictions under the guidance of a Claims Supervisor.
- Conduct thorough investigations and evaluate all aspects of claims to determine appropriate coverage and liability.
- Make informed coverage determinations draft detailed coverage letters and communicate decisions clearly to policyholders and stakeholders.
- Maintain complete accurate and up-to-date documentation in each claim file.
- Deliver superior customer service throughout the claims lifecycle ensuring timely and empathetic communication.
- Recognize and pursue opportunities for subrogation recovery when applicable.
- Utilize estimating tools and practices to evaluate damages and inform claim resolution.
- Apply a deep understanding of policy language and insurance coverage in the decision-making process.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience handling first-party property claims.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and professionalism.
- Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive solution-oriented approach.
- Proficient in directing and managing investigative efforts.
- Technically skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint).
Education & Certifications
- Minimum Associates Degree or higher.
- At least 2 years of professional work experience in a related field.
- Adjuster licenses and relevant industry designations are preferred but not required.
