The Role
As a Senior System Engineer you will have an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the UKs Armed Forces and will give you the chance to grow your skills and knowledge in an area of Systems Engineering that deals with some the latest technologies being utilised by the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day youll test maritime mission and communication systems for the likes of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and external customers who come to us for a battle-winning edge. You will be responsible for the oversight of the system integration aspects of legacy and next generation maritime communications systems with a parallel focus on the assurance of system test evaluation and acceptance activities providing advice and direction that sets the context for a future acquisition programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing key systems engineering activities on significant projects
- Engaging with external and internal stakeholders to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied and issues are mitigated
- Performing systems engineering management processes
Directingtechnical documentation in support of work carried out
- Delivering work and reporting on progress to project leads and customers
- Understanding and applying relevant regulatory safety and technical standards to work and support compliance
Essential experience of the Senior System Engineer:
- Relevant experience in an aligned engineering field
- Experience in Test & Evaluation or Integration
Essential qualifications for the Senior System Engineer:
- Honours Degree in Engineering Physics or similar. HNC/D Level qualification is acceptable if accompanied with appropriate experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

It is dedicated to research and development ensuring that complex systems are designed integrated and tested effectively to meet operational requirements.
