Visiting Instructor Art Foundations
Jacksonville State University is seeking applicants for a Visiting Instructor of Art Foundations. The Visiting Instructor of Art Foundations in the Department of Art and Design is a temporary non-tenure-track position that provides educational support to freshman and sophomore art students pursuing BFA and BA degree paths. Responsibilities include serving as the Foundations Area Coordinator for the Department of Art and Design and teaching a 4/3 course load including Drawing Design Digital Literacy and Portfolio Review.
The Department of Art Design at Jacksonville State University is accredited by NASAD and offers an MFA in Visual Communication Design and BA and BFA degrees in Studio Art and Art History with concentrations in Ceramics Illustration Graphic Design Painting Photography and Printmaking. The department also offers minors in Studio Art Photography and Art History.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of critical issues in higher education as they relate to the freshman experience and student retention. Strong drawing and design skills; ability to teach foundational studio practices and prepare students for advanced work in their concentration areas. Ability to coordinate the efforts of Graduate Teaching Assistants and full- and part-time instructors to deliver engaging and supportive learning experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires an MFA from a regionally accredited institution.
