The Division of Juvenile Justices Facility Maintenance section employs a regional hub structure consisting of three geographically located hubs: Cabarrus CA Dillion and Lenoir/Dobbs. These hubs serve the Western Central and Eastern regions and operate as the primary locations for storing division hardware assets and deploying manpower for complex preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. The mission of the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (DJJDP) in the Department of Public Safety is to reduce and prevent juvenile delinquency by effectively operating an integrated comprehensive juvenile justice system that intervenes through education and treatment of youth in order to promote youth accountability strengthen families and increase public safety
The Maintenance/Construction Tech II is responsible for performing routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs ensuring that assigned systems within a Juvenile Justice Facility and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
The position is required to perform at the Journeyman level in the Electrical trade and at the Journey level in at least one other trade preferably HVAC Plumbing or Carpentry. The position will be required to service and repair secondary electrical systems to include repairs to interior lighting building wiring conduit control wiring perimeter lighting and repairs to electrical equipment.
Position will repair commercial kitchen equipment and make minor repairs to buildings both interior and exterior and may make repairs to HVAC equipment and plumbing systems. This position will be expected to supervise the work of skilled semi-skilled and unskilled labor to assist in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance.DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to theState Human Resources Actwith the most qualified individuals.

Please note- This is not required for this position. May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.
