Job Description

Building Up Youth Regional Partnership (BUY) a program of Bay State Community Services is hiring interns to promote youth wellbeing and prevent substance use among youth in the towns of Braintree Milton Randolph Quincy and Weymouth. As a BUY Youth Leader you will work with our BUY Leadership team and a coordinator in your town to incorporate youth voice in BUY prevention programming. Even though this is a leadership role no prior leadership experience is required! During the summer you will receive training to develop your leadership skills help you understand the work being done through BUY and give you an overview of substance use prevention and public health. This is a great way to gain valuable job skills and will look great on a resume or college application!

Pay: $15 an hour
Reports to: Town Coordinator and BSCS Youth Outreach Coordinator
Locations: Hybrid in Braintree Milton Randolph Quincy and Weymouth
Hours: 3 hours/week or 12 hours/month
Mandatory Retreat and Training: August 25 & 26 2025 (located in Quincy)
Mandatory Weekly Meetings: Every Thursday from 6 to 7pm starting September 4 2025 through June 27 2026. One meeting a month will be held in person at 1120 Hancock St. Quincy. Other meetings will be held on Zoom.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the BUY Leadership Team in all aspects of BUY prevention programming and decision-making processes by providing feedback and ways to further incorporate youth voices
  • Support town substance misuse prevention coalition coordinators with their prevention initiatives and programs from September 2025 to June 2026 for 3 hours a week in person or remote
  • Assist in planning and implementing BUY evidence-informed prevention programs
  • Create social media content for town Coordinators & BUY
  • Represent BUY & town substance misuse prevention coalitions at tabling events health fairs and volunteer fairs
  • Provide support with outreach and marketing to engage more youth & the community
  • Attend monthly BUY Youth Leaders meetings
  • Attend monthly BUY Leadership meetings

Schedule & Important Information

The deadline to apply for the program is Monday June 30 2025 @ 11:59 pm

  • Please note that a recommendation letter is optional but providing one can strengthen your application. When asking for a letter of recommendation it is best practice to give your recommender at least two weeks to write the letter. Do not ask them the day before this is due. You may upload a PDF Version of a Recommendation Letter to your application.
  • After your application is reviewed if you are selected to move on to the next step you will receive an email to schedule an interview.
  • Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis beginning the week of June 30 2025.
  • Decisions will be sent out via email by Bay State Community Services beginning the week of July 20 2025.
  • REQUIRED retreat for training onboarding and orientation will take place on Monday August 25 AND Tuesday August 26 2025 (further details will be provided if and when you are offered a position).
